Frequently Asked Questions About Donating:

Q: What Makes the Global Haiti Initiative Different?
A: Unlike many other organizations in the world, the Global Haiti Initiative is the only organization that the donor directly has a say in where the money goes. The donor can see, hear, and feel the impact he or she contributes.

Q: Does my donation really make a difference?

A: Just look at these facts below:

$25 – protects five children from contracting malaria.
$25 can feed more than 70 starving people,
$50 can provide medical care for more than seven people,
$100 or more can provide an abandoned child with a bed, food and medical treatment for almost a month.

Just a small amount of money, can make a huge difference.

Q: How much should I give?
A: Donors are simply encouraged to “give until it feels good.” No set amount is suggested.

Q: How high is the overhead rate?
A: The national standard for nonprofit charities’ acceptable overhead is between 25 percent and 33 percent. Our overhead rate is below 5 percent.

Q: Why should I give The Global Haiti Initiative my support?
A:  In 2008, several Hurricanes pounded Haiti. They say that the storms destroyed 15 percent of the country`s GDP or the equivalent of 8 to 10 Hurricane Katrina’s hitting the U.S. in one month. These hurricanes created flooding everywhere, a food shortage, and a breeding ground for diseases and illness. The country is in a dire situation and needs outside assistance. As the future leaders of tomorrow, we are able to help this country by developing our sustainable community projects from the bottom up level of community development.
